Mentedhol Therapy is the name given to the inhalation of mints or any other noxious substance as a treatment for asthma. It is one of the successful asthma medications today that are being used by patients all over the world. As a matter of fact, this is one of the asthma medications used most often. Mentedhol is usually sold under other names like Menthol Liquid, Menthol Powder, Menthol Tabs, etc. The inhalation of Menthol can be done by spraying it directly onto the chest of the patient and doing this a few times a day, which is usually up to three times daily.

However, there are some cases wherein other forms of treatment like steroid injections and oral medication are more effective. In fact, these two forms of treatment are not only used to treat asthma but also to control it. Since the causes of asthma are different in each individual, their treatment is also different. This is the reason why people with severe asthma must always consult their physicians before taking any preventive measure or taking any medication for it. For those who have mild asthma, Mentedhol can be used as an effective treatment.

Menthol has been proven to have some remarkable effects on asthma. A few studies have been conducted and all of them have shown positive results. These effects include; decrease in cough, decreased lung function and increased air flow to the lungs. These effects are totally normal, especially when compared to the other medications available in the market.

Some of the studies have shown that the Menthol has also provided protection against the occurrence of infections in the lungs. So it can effectively prevent the occurrence of pneumonia. It is also beneficial for people with sinusitis problems and post nasal drip. The benefits that the Menthol can offer depend on how a patient responds to it. Usually the dosage of the Menthol therapy depends on the severity of the condition.

However, there are some side effects of the Menthol therapy. The most common are skin irritation and skin peeling. Skin irritation can be avoided by following guidelines on how to apply the therapy. It can result into redness and swelling at the treated site. Skin peeling occurs if the dosage of Menthol is in excess.

In the majority of the cases, the patients who have suffered from allergic reactions have responded positively to the treatment. The treatment is especially useful in treating hay fever symptoms and cold symptoms. The effect of the treatment can be enhanced by combining it with other treatments like anti-inflammatory medications. This combination with other anti-inflammatory medications can increase the protective effects of Menthol therapy and provide additional benefit to the patients.

There is no severe side effects of using Menthol. However, the prolonged use of Menthol can cause irritation in the nose and throat. The irritation is caused because of the direct contact between Menthol and the mucous membranes of the nose and throat. The prolonged use of Menthol may lead to narrowing of the bronchial airways, which can result to asthma attacks.

The beneficial effects of this treatment on some patients has been established but the results vary from one person to another. The dosage of Menthol will depend on the type of skin and mucosal membranes of the patients. This treatment should therefore be used under the guidance of a Doctor or Dermatologist.

Menthol therapy provides relief for some patients but the relief lasts only for as long as the Menthol is in contact with the patient’s skin. The most common side effect of this treatment is stinging or burning sensations at the site of application. Some patients may also experience minor swelling at the treated site. There are some patients who are allergic to Menthol and must therefore not use this treatment. Patients suffering from eczema, severe burns, and mucous membranes should not use this form of therapy.

One of the most important reasons why Menthol therapy is beneficial in treating asthma is because it alters the chemical balance of the patient’s lungs. The treatment helps in the fluid evacuation from the lungs and increased air flow in the bronchi and sinuses. This helps in decreasing the mucus secretions and thereby prevents the formation of bacteria. This treatment is also useful in reducing wheezing, coughing and shortness of breath. However, patients using this therapy must not stop taking other forms of medication while on the treatment.

It is important to note that this form of therapy can also help in treating acne and colds. It also helps in relieving cough and lung congestion. However, it is very important to seek advice of a dermatologist before using any form of skin therapy. Patients with pre-existing skin allergies must also get advice before going under this therapy.
