The most effective way to cure social anxiety disorder naturally is through medication – or, more frequently, cognitive behavioral therapy. Typically, you’ll need around 12 to sixteen sessions. The objective is to build self-confidence, learn new techniques which help you better deal with the situations that scare you the most and eventually get out of the disorder’s grip.

One important thing to be aware of is that most therapists, pharmacists, and doctors actually treat social anxiety therapy by cold turkey. They don’t offer a gradual program which can help you fight off the fear of public speaking, since this is actually a much harder habit to break. This doesn’t mean, however, that it isn’t possible to cure your social phobia through therapy. You simply have to find a therapist who will give it to you – or force you to get help.

Before embarking on cognitive behavioral therapy, the first step you must take is to realize that there are many things that trigger your social anxiety. Once you know what these things are, you can work towards getting over them. A great many people with social anxiety suffer from panic attacks when in certain social situations. If you have a panic attack when in these situations, your therapist will help you work through them. Sometimes, you’ll only need to remember one specific thing to remember to stop an attack.

In social anxiety cases, the therapist will teach you how to identify your core beliefs and work to discard those core beliefs. When you reject a core belief, that belief becomes real for you. Because it becomes real, that belief becomes stronger and therefore controls your behavior. Your fear of social situations may disappear if you replace that belief with a more reasonable one.

During your social anxiety therapy, your therapist will teach you how to identify your negative hot thoughts, and replace them with realistic, rational ones. These thoughts are what create your anxiety. Once you recognize your negative thoughts, you’ll soon be able to confront them and change them. Cognitive restructuring works by reminding you that what you reject as incorrect is also incorrect.

Many people think they need to “convince” themselves that they’re not good enough, or that they just aren’t good enough in this situation. What they don’t realize is that overcoming social anxiety is a result of overcoming your negative beliefs about yourself. By replacing your negative beliefs with more reasonable ones, you can quickly make progress toward overcoming your social phobia. Your therapist will show you how to think more rationally to replace your negative thoughts with more reasonable ones.

Once you have identified and replaced your negative thought patterns with more reasonable ones, your therapist will teach you how to deal with social situations. You may find that it helps to practice facing social situations for a period of time before you apply the techniques to real-life situations. Some people also find it helpful to take a friend along with them to practice handling social situations. You’ll be surprised at just how comfortable you feel when your friend is present and may even be inspired to take your social anxiety disorder to the next level. This friend can be anyone from a co-worker to a family member – and can help you work through your social anxiety disorder while you work on overcoming social anxiety.

Overcoming social anxiety and developing healthy self-esteem is possible. Social anxiety therapy is an effective treatment for social anxiety, but it will not cure you. To make progress toward becoming cured, you must work on changing your attitude toward your social anxiety. With strong support and a positive outlook, you can make progress toward being free from social anxiety.
