internet mental health Getting fewer than three fruits servings and vegetables a day can eat away at your health.

Even moderate exercise a quick, 30minute walk any day, let’s say can lower your risk of heart problems.

Did you know that a 2008 study found that regular highintensity exercise can add up to four years to your life, that isn’t surprising given the positive effects working out has on your heart, mind, and metabolism. Daily exercise can be the closest thing we have to a fountain of youth. Known in smaller quantities, alcohol can actually be good for you. Accordingly a 2010 study in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology linked light drinking to significant heart benefits. Women who have two or more drinks a day and men who have three or more may run into detrimental effects ranging from weight gain to relationship problems. These were the results, when all the information was compiled.

internet mental health As pointed out by the original IAT, thirty three’ of the 254 students met the requirements for internet addiction. Conforming to Van Ameringen’s new internet addiction scale, 107 of the students met a benchmark categorized as problematic internet use. That general mental health and ‘well being’ survey was designed to detect symptoms of depression and anxiety, impulsiveness, ADHD, inattention, and executive functioning. They surveyed 254 students, with an intention to perform the study. Basically the researchers crossreferenced those internet usage results with general mental health and well being data compiled by the researchers, when the surveys were completed. Now this latest internet addiction study was performed at McMaster University in Canada. This is the case. I am sure that the study on internet addiction was conducted using two separate scales to determine the degree of internet use.

internet mental health Not surprisingly, it was determined that college students are the ones that use the internet the most, and they are also the ones that have the most problematic use of the internet. Those that conducted the study utilized something called the Internet Addiction Test, or IAT, that was devised in 1998. Do internet addicts have mental health problems because they use the internet a lot, or do those individuals with mental health problems have a tendency to be internet addicts? Therein lies the rub. Therefore the chicken and the egg problem. By the way, the professor went on to say that this simple and albeit small scale internet addiction study does have larger implications for the treatments of addicts on all levels. Oftentimes professor Van Ameringen also reiterated that this was a very small study on the links between internet addiction and general mental health and that much larger studies must be performed on a varied population to get more concrete data.

Then the anxiety and depression should’ve been focused on. It brings up the question of if you’d better be treating someone for an addiction when they are anxious and depressed. Researchers also used a more modernized determination scale to rate just how addicted a person was to the internet. I know that the new assessment system was created by Professor Van Ameringen, who was the lead author of the study. You should take it into account.a bunch of us, not only those who are addicted, are using the internet considerably more than we did in The researchers were concerned that they’d end up with an inordinate percentage of false positives if they only utilized the original IAT. You should take this seriously. Did you know that the authors developed the new determination because of how much the internet has changed over the last 18 years.
