You create a care plan for a client and assume it will go forward as planned. Furthermore, your cashflow projections, your ideas about when you can get new clients, your expectations about staffing and scheduling all these facts of your practice assume that patients are sticking to their care plans and showing up for their follow up appointments. That’s interesting right, this is the case right? Get paid in full on time!
What’s really happening, is that the case? It can also be more difficult to keep track in a busy practice where a cancellation may quickly be filled with another appointment. Basically, it might be easy enough to keep track when you have a client with a standing appointment for Wednesday morning. It’s something else entirely when you have a client who changes appointment times, or who visits twice a week for a month and later once a week for two months, or who visits more than one clinician. Loads of information can be found easily online. You may not really notice a cancellation or a no show as the work expands to fill the time available, I’d say if you’re very busy.
Your software must alert you when a client cancels an appointment, struggle to show for an appointment, or leaves without scheduling their next appointment.
